Greet Primary School, Birmingham
Client: Greet Primary School
The Problem
Located in the heart of Tyseley, Birmingham, Greet Primary School has a long history of academic excellence and community engagement. Recent flooding had severely disrupted school operations, highlighting the need for a robust flood protection system.
The school presented unique challenges: numerous classrooms and multiple access points required a system that could provide effective flood protection while maintaining safe emergency access and escape routes. Traditional steel flood doors would have restricted visibility, which was not acceptable in this environment.
The Solution
M3 Floodtec developed a swing-hinge Defender Barrier system mounted within a frame that could be face-fixed to the existing building. This allowed the barriers to remain secured in the open position during school hours and quickly closed and locked when the school was not in use. Deployment takes approximately 10 seconds.
The Kitemark™ certified Defender Barriers provide rapid, high-standard flood protection. Additional measures included new flood walls, flood gates, and anti-flood airbricks, creating a comprehensive system that safeguards the school while maintaining functionality and safety for pupils and staff.
